
GameStop announced that on December 6, 2025, it’s holding its first Trade Anything Day at all its stores. The premise is that you can bring in almost any object, and get store credit for it. The object doesn’t have to be a video game, or anything that they sell at the store.
But there are many limitations, which are listed below. Rest assured that you can trade in your taxidermy items.
GameStop announced this event on Facebook, and will presumably follow up with more details soon.
Before we get to the lengthy list of exclusions, some basic info:
- Limit one item per person
- The item must fit into a 20x20x20 inch box
- GameStop staff have the authority to to refuse any item
- GameStop has not announced how it will calculate the credit value for items
Excluded items
- Hazardous waste or material
- Chemicals
- Liquids
- Lithium ion batteries or items containing them
- Weapons and ammo
- Dead or alive animals (although taxidermy items are permitted)
- Alcohol
- Tobacco
- Drugs or pharmaceuticals (legal or not)
- Computers (except certain MacBooks that GameStop normally accepts in trade)
- Computer peripherals like monitors, keyboards, pointing devices
- External hard drives (except those normally accepted in trade)
- Facsimile machines
- Document scanners
- Printers
- 3D printers
- Label printers
- Digital picture frames
- Small electronic equipment (digital music players, VCRs, DVD players, etc.)
- Small scale servers
- Televisions
- Gift cards and other currency (foreign or domestic)
- Jewelry
- Sexual and explicit items
- Items resembling body parts
