Davidson Lands Conservancy is hosting Wilderness Calling: Firefly Fest on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Fisher Farm, 21215 Shearers Road, Davidson, North Carolina. This is a rescheduled date, due to the weather on May 30. Although it was sold out for May 30, there might be openings for June 14.
The event is free, but space is limited and pre-registration is required.
Firefly Fest includes a talk by Dr. Clyde Sorenson, professor of Entomology and Plant Pathology at NC State Universities, and a firefly stroll through the park.
Dr. Sorenson will teach us about various types of fireflies and the habitats where they are found. Meet in the parking lot at dusk for the discussion and then as darkness falls, hope to see some of these magical creatures. Please bring something to sit on and if you are bringing a flashlight, please cover it so it only shows red or green light to avoid light pollution.
