Reevestock Music Festival

Here at Charlotte on the Cheap we’ve been big fans of Reevestock Music Festival, in Elkin, North Carolina, almost from its beginning. We’ve personally been attending every year since 2012! One Charlotte on the Cheap reader will win two tickets to the festival on Saturday, October 12, 2024, just by leaving a comment to this post.

The headliner in 2024 is Brent Cobb, a Grammy-nominated songwriter. Also performing are Jonathan Scales Fourchestra, Time Sawyer, Cordovas, Victoria Victoria, Darby Wilcox and Mike McKenna Jr.

About the Festival

Reevestock Music Festival, which takes place on Friday, October 11 and 12, 2024, is a small,  family-friendly music festival in a beautiful setting just a little over an hour from Charlotte.

This is possibly the most comfortable, relaxed music festival in North Carolina. According to Glide Magazine, “Everything you kind of hate about festivals doesn’t happen here. Reevestock is the way festivals would be in an alternate, better universe.” 

Elkin is just a bit more than an hour’s drive north (75 miles) of Charlotte, straight up I-77.

If you come up for the weekend and have some time before the festival starts on Saturday, or Sunday morning, make sure to check out some of Elkin’s amazing hiking trails, including this hike from an Elkin winery to a waterfall. (You can shorten the hike and just go to the waterfall.)

The festival is the brainchild of the Charlotte-based folk/rock band Time Sawyer. It’s a fundraiser to provide college scholarships to students in Elkin, NC, the hometown of two of the Time Sawyer founders.

The festival features ten bands and artists (three on Friday night and seven at the main event on Saturday), food trucks, wine, craft beer and more. Kids’ activities are available during the day on Saturday.

Note: There’s very limited space on Friday, so make sure to get those tickets ASAP. They are going fast.

Kickoff–Friday, October 11

The kickoff to Reevestock takes place at The Reeves Theater, 129 West Main Street, Elkin, North Carolina. The Reeves is a renovated theater in downtown Elkin.

The music actually starts outside the Reeves, in the free Downtown Get-Down Block Party at 5:30 p.m., with a performance by Charlie Brown Superstar.

Then it continues at a ticketed event in the Reeves Theater, featuring Amythyst Kiah and Maia Kamil. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Main Event–Saturday, October 12

Saturday, October 12, is the main event. Gates open at 12 p.m., the music starts at 1 p.m. and continues until around 10 p.m. Reevestock offers the public a rare chance to visit and explore Elkin’s Hidden Amphitheater, a privately owned entertainment venue in a wooded, park-like setting with rolling hills, a running stream, waterfalls, hammock chairs and swings. This is an extremely family-friendly festival, and even includes children’s activities during the day.

This is the LAST year that Reevestock will be at Elkin’s Hidden Amphitheater, so will probably be your last chance ever to experience this environment!
