Update: The October 19th to 22nd shows have been canceled, but the run has been extended, with shows added on November 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2022. The show on November 2nd is “pay what you can” night.
Thumbs, a mystery comedy thriller by Rupert Homes, is full of twists and turns, taking the audience on a fun-filled, thought-provoking journey. Playwright-songwriter Homes (widely known for his hit single “The Piña Colada Song”) called Thumbs “not just a whodunnit, but a whydunnit.”
It reverses traditional thriller roles, featuring two finely crafted female characters, played by Stephanie DiPaolo and Anne Lambert, to keep you on your toes for two hours of pleasurable and shocking theatre.
DiPaolo is Marta Dunhill, a soap opera diva hiding out in a remote cabin who may be the target of a local serial killer. Lambert plays the local Sheriff on the trail of the murderer, whose perverse predilection – cutting off people’s thumbs – gives the play its title. Local actors Adam Donshik, Jason Loughlin, and Mark Scarboro share the stage with DiPaolo and Lambert.
The show will be The VAPA Center, 700 N. Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC, October 13th to 15th, 19th to 22nd, and 27th to 29th, 2022. Wednesday and Thursday shows start at 7:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m.
This show is the inaugural production in the COB black box space inside the VAPA Center.
