ImaginOn is celebrating its 10th birthday this year. This unique collaboration between Children’s Theatre of Charlotte and Charlotte Mecklenburg Library offers everything from a dress-up stage for preschoolers to StoryLab for school-age kids to video-making for teens. And of course the facility, on 300 East 7th Street, also is home to the Spangler Children’s Library and Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s productions and classes. The building itself inspires creativity and fun, from the typewriter keys that kids jump on out front to the kid-size trolley car inside. ImaginOn has become an integral part of childhood here in Charlotte. Admission to ImaginOn is free. (There is a cost for Children’s Theatre’s productions and classes.)
To celebrate its 10th birthday, the 2nd Saturday of every month, through May of 2016, ImaginOn is hosting “Super Saturday.” There will be a different theme each month. The activities will take place all day. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The theme this Saturday, March 12th, is “Dinos.” Build a dinosaur out of PVC, meet “real” dinosaurs, listen to stories about dinosaurs, and participate in other dinosaur-related activities.
Themes for upcoming Super Saturdays:
- February 13, 2016: Journey to Oz
- March 12, 2016: Dino Day
- April 9, 2016: Science
- May 14, 2016: Flying
