Historic Latta Plantation, at 5225 Sample Road, Huntersville, is a circa 1800 plantation and living history site featuring guided home tours, farm animals and more.
Throughout the year Historic Latta Plantation presents many events for the community. You can usually find them all on their Facebook page.
The property has reopened to visitors, with the following hours:
- Wednesday to Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Sunday: 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Sheep To Shawl
Saturday, April 17th, 2021

In early America, there were many steps between shearing a sheep and wearing the wool as a shawl. Welcome spring to the farm and learn about the fiber arts! You’ll see a live shearing demonstration along with other steps in the process like carding, dyeing, and spinning. Regular admission applies. Free for members.

Historic Latta Plantation is within Latta Nature Preserve, which features miles of hiking trails and launching area for kayaks and canoes. Learn more about Latta Nature Preserve (as well as other nature preserves.)
We love the views from Buzzard Walk and Wash Rock within Latta Nature Preserve. They are very easy to walk to.
Carolina Raptor Center is also in Latta Nature Preserve, and it’s currently open, with safety measures. Carolina Raptor Center rehabilitates and cares for injured birds of prey.
Hopewell Presbyterian Church’s cemetery is included in our article about visiting historic cemeteries in the Charlotte area. It’s very close to Latta Nature Preserve, at 10500 Beatties Ford Road, Huntersville.
Historic Rural Hill is also close by.
