Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Outreach Department and LaundryCares Foundation are partnering to introduce a new literacy center at The Laundry Room, 901 E. Arrowood Road, Charlotte.
As an introduction to the space, Free Laundry and Literacy Day will take place on Friday, December 10th, 2021, from 1 to 6 p.m.
Come by and see the new Family Read, Play & Learn Space at The Laundry Room. It will offer comfortable seating, where children can enjoy high-quality books, toys and other learning materials.
While families explore the new literacy space during this special event, parents can wash an unlimited amount of laundry for free.
There will also be free books for children to take home, as well as free food and drinks.
In addition, Sir Purr will be there from 3 to 3:30 p.m.
LaundryCares Foundation helps to put literacy centers in laundry facilities. The idea is that the time waiting for laundry to finish can be a fun and enriching time for families, as they read and learn together.
