BIKE! Charlotte invites you to take part in many events celebrating bike riding from April 29th, 2016, through May 15th. Many of these events are free. Events include organized bike rides, bicycle maintenance clinics and BikeFEST, a street festival in Plaza Midwood. Here is a list of some of the free activities throughout the three week period. Make sure to follow the links to find the exact times, locations and other details. Also, there are more events on the Bike! Charlotte website, these are just a few of them, so please check it out.
One more thing: anyone traveling with a bicycle can ride CATS Buses and LYNX Trains for FREE May 1 – May 7.
Flat Repair and Basic Maintenance

Learn to Ride / Kids’ Bicycle Safety Rodeo

It’s never too early (or too late!) learn to ride a two-wheeler! Kids of all ages and grown-ups, too, can Learn to Ride a bike using the tried-and-true “balance bike” method. It’s easy, it’s fun, and it’s a skill that will last a lifetime! If you know how to ride, hone in your skills and knowledge of the road with our Kids Bicycle Safety Rodeo. Join the fun, and this FREE opportunity to Learn to Ride or take a spin through the Bike Safety Rodeo course!

BikeFEST
Sunday, May 15th, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Kids’ bike and pet parade at 12:30 p.m.)

BikeFEST is a bike and pedestrian themed block party that encourages the public to enjoy playing in the streets and meeting fellow neighbors! Six blocks of Thomas Ave in Plaza Midwood will be closed to allow a safe environment for scavenger hunts, cycling, skating, a bike rodeo and a bike parade! The goal is to celebrate public spaces and make the public realize that the streets are not just for cars! Come enjoy this open street festival in Plaza Midwood! Events include Bike Drive for Trips for Kids Charlotte – donate your dusty (not rusty) bike, a Kids Bicycle Safety Rodeo, Cargo Challenge, Bike Wash and Lube Station, Flat Tire Challenge, music, food, kids crafts and activities.
