The Town of Cramerton, along with the City of Belmont, is celebrating Arbor Day on Saturday, April 28th, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Goat Island Park, 141 8th Avenue, Cramerton.
This is a free event.
Here’s some of what’s going on:
- Ceremonial tree planting, as well as trees that the community will help plant
- Educational and information canopy hike with representatives from the Carolina Thread Trail and Catawba Lands Conservancy
- First ever Goat Island Park scavenger hunt! Families, teams, or individuals will work to complete a series or puzzles to find locations on the island that hold clues to the final puzzle. The first to complete the scavenger hunt will win a Goat in the Boat gear pack and all finishers will receive a smaller prize.
- Crowned Sparrow Co. will be on site doing interactive, handmade crafts with kids and adults that are made from real fallen trees on Goat Island Park
- The Cramerton Community Committee will be giving out information about bat houses and pollinator gardens
- The Belmont Environmental and Sustainability Board will be sharing information and doing demos about composting
- Free saplings to plant in your yards (while supplies last)
- Shred-It truck out to help everyone get rid of all their paper products in the most environmentally friendly way possible
