Bridging Musical Worlds–A Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. is an annual MLK Day tradition in Charlotte that brings together music from the rich, diverse jazz and classical traditions. This year, 2019, it will take place on Sunday, January 20th, at 5 p.m., at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Conference Center, 3400 Beatties Ford Road, in Charlotte’s Historic West Side.
Tickets are $5, or, in advance, $6.94 ($5 plus ticket fee) and you can purchase them online now.
The Bridging Musical Worlds program is a collaborative effort between:
- A Sign Of The Times the Carolinas
- My Sister’s House
- Charlotte Folk Society
- UNC Charlotte College of Arts + Architecture
Each year, these organizations perform music dedicated to the life and works of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
This year, there will also be a meal,”Dinner On The Yard” at 3:30 p.m.
“Dinner On The Yard” (a community meal reminiscent of Homecoming at southern churches) is $12 for adults and $8 for children (12 yrs and under). If you’re interested in dinner, please RSVP by emailing email@example.com. You’ll pay for dinner at the event.
