City Thrift opening on South Blvd - grand opening Aug. 27-30

City Thrift is opening a 25,000 square-foot store at 6029 South Blvd, Charlotte, North Carolina, its first store in North Carolina.

City Thrift is known for its modern, organized, and easy-to-shop thrift experience filled with affordable secondhand fashion, home décor, furniture, shoes, accessories, toys, tools, books, kitchenware, vintage pieces, and unexpected treasures for the whole family.

With 7,000+ new items placed on the sales floor daily, every visit will a fresh treasure-hunt experience. Shoppers can browse departments for women’s clothing, men’s clothing, children’s clothing, baby clothing, shoes, home décor, furniture, books, toys, accessories, jewelry, tools, kitchenware, and vintage finds.

The store is extremely well organized, and the items are checked for any damage before being put on the shelves.

There’s a testing station where you can plug in small electronics and try them out before buying.

Where does City Thrift’s merchandise come from?

For the Charlotte location, AMVETS picks up donations from local donation bins, and City Thrift purchases items from AMVETS in bulk. Then City Thrift sorts through the items, making sure that everything is in good condition, before putting the items in the store.

Grand Opening Celebration

City Thrift is holding a Grand Opening celebration August 27 to 30, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The weekend will include giveaways, free food, music, and a first look at the new store!

All customers who spend $20 will be entered into a raffle to win prizes, including a TV. The first 100 customers who spend $20 each day will get a free meal from the food truck.

Saving Money at City Thrift

No items should be in City Thrift for more than 3 or 4 weeks. The items that are put on the racks in a particular week will all get the same color tag. The color of the tag for new arrivals changes each week. Then the older items are gradually marked down. For example, one color tag might mean that you get 15% off, and other color tag (of older items) might mean you get 30% off.

There’s a screen at the store where you’ll be able to see the discount for the different colored tags. At a new store, like the one in Charlotte, it will be a couple weeks before the items age into discounted status.
