Charlotte Roller Derby returns to the track with the Shamrock Smash. the action starts with the Luck Harms vs. Zero Lucks Given, followed by Charlotte Roller Derby Bad Assets vs. Savannah Derby Devils.
It takes place Saturday, March 11th, 2023, at Grady Cole Center, 310 N Kings Drive, Charlotte, NC.
The Timeline:
- 3 p.m.: Doors Open
- 4 p.m.: First whistle
Parking is $10 (cash only.)
Tickets:
- Pre-sale tickets: $15 for adults and $10 for kids 6-12
- At the door: $18
- Kids 5 and under admitted for free.
Established in 2006, Charlotte Roller Derby is a skater-owned and operated non-profit sports organization comprised of women and men from all walks of life. Formed to promote the sport of roller derby and enrich the Charlotte community, the league and its members donate time and a portion of bout proceeds to local charitable causes.
Roller Derby 101
- Roller derby is a contact sport, with five skaters from each team on the track at a time.
- A bout consists of a series of “jams,” where one skater on each team, the “jammer” (identified with a star on the helmet) scores points by lapping members of the opposing team.
- The other team members, the “blockers,” try to prevent the opposing team’s jammer from passing them, while helping their own jammer.
