Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Presents: Barbie: From Mother to Mogul is a free event on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., at the Matthews Library, 230 Matthews Station Street, Matthews, NC.
We may know Barbie for her fashion sense and Dream House, but do we truly understand how this 12-inch doll has impacted America and beyond? Since 1959, Barbie has helped shape ideas about gender, appearance, and independence for better or worse. Join Professor Shannon Bauerle from UNC Charlotte for an interactive workshop on the history of this legendary toy and her significance in an ever-evolving worldview throughout the decades.
