
South Boulevard Library, 4429 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC, is hosting a free immersive, bilingual, language exchange program. It takes place inside the Community Room (the large room toward the back of the library.)
At Charlemos Charlotte Language Exchange Program, English speakers will get to practice Spanish through interactive games, engaging activities, and conversation. Similarly, Spanish speakers will be able to practice English with English speakers.

The program is for:
- Adults who wish to improve their Spanish or English conversation skills in a supportive, community-driven environment.
- Teens (with an accompanying adult) eager to learn and practice a second language and connect across cultures
- Learners of all proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced speakers, are encouraged to participate and benefit from a collaborative learning environment.
The program is free, but registration is required.
The sessions are scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. the 2nd Saturday of the month in 2026:

Program Features
Welcoming Environment:
A friendly and inclusive space where participants feel comfortable practicing their language skills, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace. The environment encourages positive feedback and growth through collaboration.
Engaging Activities:
Interactive language exercises and real-life conversation simulations where participants practice speaking, listening, and comprehension skills. Activities are designed to be dynamic and engaging, fostering a natural and enjoyable learning experience.
Native Speakers as Partners:
Native Spanish and English speakers collaborate with each other, teaching their respective languages while learning from their language partners. This peer-to-peer interaction ensures authentic language practice and cultural exchange.
Bilingual Teen Volunteers:
Bilingual teens act as learning assistants, providing encouragement and guidance during activities. These volunteers offer support to participants, creating a mentorship dynamic and enhancing the overall program experience.
Guest Perspectives:
Guest speakers, such as language learners or community leaders, will share impactful stories about their experiences with language acquisition, cultural adaptation, and the challenges and rewards of learning a new language. These sessions will serve as inspiration and enrich discussions about language learning and cultural identity.
