Carolina Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting free guided herping tours in the summer of 2026. You might see frogs, snakes, turtles and more.
Join CWS interns and volunteers for a fun nature-filled hour learning the basics of herping, identifying local herps, and walking the trail at dusk. Registration is required for each tour. Register here.
The tours take place at McAlpine Creek Park, 8711 Monroe Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, from 6 to 7 p.m., on these dates:

Meet at the Sardis Lake parking lot at McAlpine Creek Park and look for the white 2-door Jeep Wrangler with teal tires and decals.
What to bring:
- Hand sanitizer
- Camera (no flash, please)
- Water bottle
- Notebook
- Comfortable walking shoes for trails
