Astronomy Night at Town Creek Indian Mound, 509 Town Creek Mound Road in Mount Gilead gives the public a chance to observe celestial bodies from a location unencumbered by light pollution. Stargazers are encouraged to bring their own telescopes and binoculars, but there will be a telescope available for use by participants who do not have one. The final astronomy night of 2012 will take place December 21st, 2012, starting at 6pm. Some people interpret the Mayan calendar as predicting that the world will end on December 21st, so this event will focus on the celestial waypoints that the Maya used to develop their calendar. Warm refreshments will be available in the museum. The event is free but you must RSVP by email or by calling 910-439-6802.
Event cancelled in case of Apocalypse.
