When I first moved to Charlotte 20 years ago, I used to go to the Summer Concert Series at University Place after work each week in the summer. Despite all the changes to University Place -most good – one constant is the summer music series. Each Thursday in June and July, from 5:30PM to 8:30PM, there will be live bands by the lake. Grab an ice cream cone, or a glass of wine, or take the kids to the playground on the other side of the lake, or walk the dog around the lake, and enjoy the music.
As a little interesting tidbit about websites, the website for these concerts wins my award for most ungooglable website. If you knew that there was a concert series at University Place in Charlotte but wanted to get information, there’s no way you’d ever find this website in google. Try it. Go to www.thesummerconcertseries.info and search for the words “university place.” You won’t find ‘em with a text search, because they only place they show up is in a graphic, which means that google won’t find it. So if you’ve been trying to find out information about this series for a few weeks, like I have, you most likely would not find anything unless you happened to notice an ad in the hard-copy version of Creative Loafing. Well. That’s all for my little tidbit. Back to the concerts.
This is the band schedule for the rest of the summer. Listen to sample music of some of the bands by going to the Summer Concert Series website, clicking on “band schedule.”
