The film Lies My Father Told Me is presented by Charlotte Jewish Film Festival as part of CPCC’s Sensoria Festival on Sunday, April 15th, 2012, at 7pm, at Tate Hall. This film tells the story of David, a young Jewish boy growing up in 1920 Montreal, who is caught between his traditional, immigrant grandfather and his new-world father who seeks to get rich quick.
The Early Music Concert, part of CPCC’s Sensoria Arts Festival, will offer music played on instruments of the Renaissance. Enjoy music from shawms, dulcians, sackbuts, violas da gamba as well as harps and recorders, played by CPCC students and faculty, many of whom have years of experience playing these instruments.
This free concert will be held Wednesday, April 18th, 2012, from 12:30pm to 1:20pm in Tate Hall.
The film Louder than a Bomb is presented by Charlotte Film Festival as part of CPCC’s Sensoria Festival on Tuesday, April 17th, 2012, at 2pm, at Tate Hall. This documentary chronicles four teams as they prepare for and compete in the 2008 world’s largest youth poetry slam.

Jazz on the Green is a free jazz festival, part of CPCC’s Sensoria Festival.
Jazz ensembles from K-12 schools and colleges will be performing on Saturday, April 14th, from 11am to 7pm on the lawn of the Overcash Building, 1206 Elizabeth Avenue. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.
World Experience: a Cultural Exchange is a free culture exchange, featuring food, traditional dress, music and other cultural aspects of diverse regions of the world. It’s part of CPCC’s Sensoria Festival.
It takes place on the 1st floor of the Overcash Building, 1206 Elizabeth Avenue, on Friday, April 13th, 20122, from 11am to 1pm.
The Shakespeare play Twelfth Night will be presented, free, to the public, as part of CPCC’s Sensoria – a Celebration of the Arts.
This performance will be at Tate Hall, in the Overcash Building, at 1206 Elizabeth Avenue, on Saturday, April 14th, at 11am.
Charlotte’s biggest arts festival, Sensoria, will take place on the CPCC campus from April 13th, 2012, to April 21st. I’ll be writing about the individual events a little bit later – especially the free ones – but mark your calendars now. I can’t overstate this. If you have any interest in the arts, you will want to attend some of these events. This is also a great way to get an idea of how vibrant the arts community at CPCC is.
The arts that will be celebrated during this festival include visual, culinary, musical, and theatrical arts. There will be free Shakespeare performances, jazz, film, spoken word, dance, and much more. In all, I’m counting over 50 performances on the schedule.
