August 5th is the first Friday of the month and that means that both NoDa and Historic Southend are hosting free gallery crawls.

Here are some free highlights of the NoDa Gallery Crawl, which centers around 36th Street and North Davidson Street.


Art Show Opening: Survival of the Fittest

6pm to 10pm
Baku Art Gallery
3200 North Davidson Street
This art show, which will run through August 31st, features work with the theme of big game animals by over 25 artists.

Free music at The Evening Muse
8pm
3227 N. Davidson Street
Jeremy Aggers is performing in a free show. Please tip him or buy a CD if you like the music.

All Arts Crawl
6pm – 10pm
Neighborhood Theatre
Over 80 artists of all genres are displaying and selling their work. There’s no admission charge, and artists keep 100% of their sales, which helps keep prices low. Live art will be created on site for silent auction, and there will be live music too.

Papergirl Charlotte Exhibit
Pura Vida Worldly Art
3202A N. Davidson
6pm
Free exhibit of work from Papergirl Charlotte project. On Saturday, participants will ride their bikes around Charlotte, giving the work to random strangers.

Live music at Salvador Deli
7pm
3215 North Davidson Street
Demon Waffle, followed by Boom One Sound System, and then the local ska band Bums Lie.

Free parking at Ultimate Gym
