Every Friday night from June 7th, 2013, to August 23rd, families can enjoy free and cheap outdoor activities at McDowell Nature Center. There will be a free family campfire from 7pm to 8pm. Enjoy stories, songs and s’mores. Following the campfire is a “Nature at Night” hayride through the nature preserve for just $1/person. You might see coyote, bobcat, deer, and owls on the ride. But spots fill up quickly for the hayride, so either get to the campfire early to sign up for the hayride, or call (704) 588-5224 to pre-register. The campfire on June 7th is kicking off the summer and includes a “glow in the dark scavenger hunt” until 9:30pm. McDowell Nature Center is at 15222 York Road.
