Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools are closed Friday, November 11th, 2011, and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is stepping in with some free activities for kids. If you’re interested in one of the events, make sure to click on the link, because that’s where you’ll find instructions on registering, if necessary.

Morrison Regional Library
2pm to 4pm
Age: 5-11
Join us on your day off from school for an afternoon of self-directed Lego building. Participants will experience cooperative and collaborative construction while exercising their spatial planning skills. For ages 5-11.

Passport to Olympus
Matthews Library
2pm to 3pm
age 5-18
Join us for a fun-filled journey to Olympus as we celebrate Rick Riordan’s newest book, The Son of Neptune. Participants will have opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and teamwork as only demigods can. Refreshments will be provided.

Friday Flick: Clash of the Titans
3pm to 5pm
age 12-18
We’ll be celebrating all things mythological on Friday November 11th! Teens will vote between the original “Clash of the Titans” filmed in 1981 (PG) or the new version filmed in 2010 (PG-13).

Lunch and a Movie
Davidson Library
12pm to 1:30pm
age 5-11
School’s out! Why not bring your lunch to the library and watch the movie Mars Needs Moms? Popcorn will be provided. Rated PG. 88 minutes

Musical Petting Zoo
11am to 12:30pm
For families
Make your own music! The Musical Petting Zoo, presented by the Symphony Guild of Charlotte, brings real instruments to ImaginOn for children to try out.
