Carolina Renaissance Festival is back, on weekends from October 6th to November 18th, 2012, from 10am to 5:30pm. Back are the jousting tournaments, 11 stages of entertainment, rides and games, artisan demonstrations and really big turkey legs. The festival grounds are located at 16445 Poplar Tent Road in Huntersville. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for kids age 5-12 and free for kids under 5. Seniors over age 60 and military personnel are $18. However, there are several ways to save some money.

Harris Teeter has tickets that are discounted a buck.

ValPak has coupons. Print out a coupon to get TWO adult admissions for $20 opening weekend, October 6th and 7th. Another coupon offers free child admission with the purchase of an adult admission from October 13th until November 18th. Find both coupons here or in the Valpak mailer that you might have received in your mailbox.

October 13th and 14th is Sci-Fi & Fantasy Literary Weekend. Local authors will be holding signings. Dress in costume and participate in a costume contest. Participate in the Royal School Supply Drive by donating school supplies at the Festival entrance, at the Visit Lake Norman visitor center, or at Park Road Books in Charlotte and receive a coupon for free child admission ages 5-12, with paid adult admission.

Halloween Daze & Spooky Knights – Oct. 27 & 28: There will be Halloween themed activities. Kids 5-12 are admitted free with a paying adult.

Canned Food Drive – donate a canned good to the box office and receive a free child’s admission with the purchase of an adult admission.

Student Days are on weekdays and perfect for field trips. Students’ admission those days are just $8.50. One adult per eight students is free, and additional adults are $8.50. These tickets should be ordered in advance. See the above link for all the details. Student days are Tuesday, October 16th (elementary/middle schools), Wednesday, October 17th (middle schools) and Thursday, October 18th (middle/high schools). Homeschool groups are also welcome.
