Here’s a free event that the whole family can enjoy. Charlotte Folk Society’s Old Time Music Jam & Ice Cream Social takes place at Historic Rosedale on Sunday, July 11th, from 1pm to 4pm.

Historic Rosedale provides the perfect setting for families to enjoy an old-fashioned summer Sunday afternoon. Activities on the grounds are free and include open jam sessions, a slow jam, a Celtic jam, a song circle, clogging and blacksmithing demonstrations, and, of course, ice cream — as long as it lasts. Storytellers Guild of Charlotte members will share another traditional family pastime — telling tales to listeners of all ages on the back porch of the plantation home. The Charlotte Appalachian Dulcimer Club is hosting a session with extra dulcimers on hand for interested folks to try out. Marilyn Price and Pam Garcia will have percussion toys on hand for children to play.
