You know what gives me the blues? When people stay home watching bad TV because they think they don’t have the money to go out and do things. Let the Gaston County Museum , at 131 West Main Street in Dallas, NC, help you beat those blues. The 2nd Friday of each summer month they are presenting “Blues Out Back,” with some fine, authentic blues music behind the museum from 6:30PM to 8PM. (Visit the museum beforehand.)

June 12th they are hosting one of my very favorite blues artists, a national legend named John Dee Holeman. (Other dates are 7/10, 8/14, and 9/11) This guy is 80 years old and still sounds fantastic. He’s got a gift for making you feel the blues but feel good, at the same time. And he plays a mean guitar. Want a sneak preview? Check him out playing “One Black Rat”:
