Both Mint Museum locations offer free admission on Wednesdays starting at 5pm. On select Wednesdays, one of the museums presents an ArtFusion activity, which is also free, and which extends the scope of an exhibit through music, dance, photography, food or other approaches. The ArtFusion activities start at 6pm. Mint Museum Randolph is at 2730 Randolph Road and Mint Museum Uptown is at 500 South Tryon Street.

Decode Modern Art. Learn about artists and works represented in the Mint’s Modern & Contemporary Art Collection with a lecture by Assistant Curator Amber Smith. Enjoy a special performance and conversation about the American modern dance choreographer Martha Graham with choreographer Kim Jones and dramaturg Jeanmarie Higgins*. Learn about modernist literature and influential writers of the twentieth century with representatives from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. Participate in a meditation session on colors with Charlotte artist and Reiki instructor Montse Ferragut. Then stop by the printmaking station and create an abstract work of art and enjoy drinks from the cash bar.

*Choreographer and Martha Graham Dance Company regisseur Kim Jones and dramaturg Jeanmarie Higgins will discuss and perform the Martha Graham “lost solo” entitled Imperial Gesture. With no film of this original performance in existence, Kim Jones reconstructed the choreography by studying period photographs by American photographer Barbara Morgan.
