Plan your weekend with these thirteen choices for free things to do. There’s lots for the kids this weekend, but there’s also plenty for adults, including a free dance lesson and several live music events.

 

 

 

Concord Art Walk and Movie: From 6pm to 9pm Friday, downtown Concord Art galleries will be open for visits, with live music and other entertainment along the way. At 9pm, see the film Eyeborgs, which was filmed in Winston Salem, for free at Davis Theatre.

Live music at NoDa Brewing: 6:30pm Friday, The Hazlegroves perform. No cover.

Jumpin’ Java: 7pm Friday, attend a free swing dance class at Caribou Coffee, 1920 Sardis Road North. Afterwards stay for a free hour of dancing.

Free ice skating lesson: Saturday, Extreme Ice Center is offering free skating lessons but you have to register in advance.

Go Kids Go!: 9am Saturday, The Junior League of Charlotte is offering a free fitness event for kids at Billingsville Elementary School as part of Junior League’s Healthy Child Initiative.

Lowes Build and Grow: Kids build Monster Jam, featuring Grave Digger.

Book Blast: 11am Saturday, Concord Mills is hosting a literacy event for kids at the Food Court. Mr. Nigel will be providing entertainment.

Prom Jam: 4pm Saturday, teens can see fashion shows, get free photos and giveaways at Carolina Place’s prom prep event.

Kids’ Open Mic: 5pm Saturday, The Artists’ Den is presenting a free open mic for kids at Mugs Coffee.

Live music at Summit Coffee: 8pm Saturday, Rick Spreitzer & the Antique Babies perform. No cover.

Live music at Common Market: 9pm Saturday, at Common Market on Commonwealth, Funk Rush (formerly Justice League) will perform on the patio. No cover.

Karaoke: 6pm Sunday, free karaoke party at Snug Harbor.

Family Opera: 2pm Sunday, Free for kids under 10, $5 for everyone else, Opera Carolina presents Family Opera – The Magic Flute at Charlotte Country Day School. Follow link to see how to register.
