The Last Word, a used book and media store in the university area, is offering kids crafts and activities from November 11th, 2012, through November 18th. During this week 10% of all kids’ and young adult book sales will be donated to Red Cross Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. Donations raised from these events will also go to hurricane relief.
Monday, November 12th: Crafts for Kids
Featured Books: “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle and “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak.
11am-6pm: Kids bored at home on their day off school? Bring them to The Last Word for crafts day! Celebrate reading and have fun with art projects to make and take home!
Saturday, November 17th: Happy Hunger Games! Featured Book: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
11am-8pm: Don’t worry, no arena here! Test your wits and survival skills in our HUNGER GAMES CHALLENGE, have your hair braided like Katniss or practice your camouflage skills like Peeta by getting your face painted!
Sunday, November 18th: We Heart Hogwarts! Featured Books: The Harry Potter Series!
Sunday is our GRAND FINALE to end our Charity week with a bang! During the day, get sorted into your house and take a class at Hogwarts! After the store closes, The Last Word is proud to host our Potter Party! Come dressed as your favorite character for movie screening, costume contest, and more! Don’t forget to enter your name in the Goblet of Fire for a chance to win some awesome prizes!
Noon-5:00pm: Take a Magical Class at Hogwarts! Classes include Potions, Charms, History of Magic and many more! Class tuitions range from a suggested donation of $1-$5.
6:30pm: The Last Word POTTER PARTY! Come dressed in your finest “dress robes” for a magical night at the Last Word! Deathly Hallows Parts I and II will be playing, and the best costume will win a special prize! Tickets for this event are $6 each or 2 for $10. Limited tickets are available so purchase yours early!
