Update: Congratulations to Roman Borissenko! You are the winner of the contest.

Here’s another chance to win tickets to a great show at The Evening Muse, as well as a CD. I first heard the music of Mipso, an acoustic band from Chapel Hill, about a year and a half ago and since then I’ve been following them, hoping they’d come to Charlotte. They regularly headline at and sell out Cat’s Cradle in Chapel Hill, and they’re going to finally be sharing their music with Charlotte on Saturday, November 10th. They’ve offered up two tickets to their show at The Evening Muse, and a CD, to a Charlotte on the Cheap reader. What first attracted me to Mipso’s music is its distinct North Carolina feel – the bluegrass influenced fiddle and chop-style mandolin, the smooth vocals and lyrics that bring you back to the small town that you’re from, or wish you were from. The songs are intimate and relaxed. You might feel like you’re listening on your front porch – that is, if you had friends who could sing in effortless three part harmony. Listen to some of the songs from their first full length album Long, Long Gone.

Then enter the contest to win the tickets and CD. To enter, just email me at cheapskate@charlotteonthecheap.com and include your full name in the email. Please make sure you can go to the show before entering. The show is on Saturday, November 10th, 2012, at 8pm. Noted songwriter, David Childers, of The Overmountain Men will be opening. Tickets are just $10 in advance.

The winner will be chosen randomly on Wednesday, October 31st, 2012, and will be notified by email. The winner will need to respond within 48 hours or an alternate will be chosen.
