NoDaWEEN 2012: 5K, KiDaWEEN, ghosts & legends tour, party, concert, Rocky Horror 10/27/12

There will be freaky happenings all day and night on Saturday, October 27th, 2012 in NoDa at NoDaWEEN. The events are free or cheap and take place in NoDa, the area of town near 36th Street and North Davidson. Come in costume and stay all day.

KiDaWEEN: 12pm to 3pm at Chop Shop, 399 East 35th Street. This is a FREE event, but a donation of $5 is appreciated and will cover costs and benefits the NoDa Neighborhood Association 501(c)3 tax-deductible charity. There will be an 18-foot inflatable slide, obstacle course, a popcorn machine, face and body painting by real tattoo artists from Fu’s Custom Tattoo, bobbing for apples from Smelly Cat Coffeehouse, live music by Juice Box from NoDa Records, a costume contest and more. Free parking at the Chop Shop/Ultimate Gym parking lot.

Freaky 5K: Registration at Chop Shop starting at 5pm. Race starts at 6pm. Come in costume. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes. If you register online before October 25th, it’s $20. After that it’s $25.

NoDa Ghosts & Legends Walking Tour: FREE. From 6pm to 11pm, this 50 minute tour starts at Boudreaux’s Louisiana Kitchen, 501 East 36th Street, and leaves you at Chop Shop.

Post Party: Free party in parking lot of Chop Shop and Ultimate Gym after the race. Live music. Food trucks.

Concert and Rocky Horror Picture Show at Chop Shop: Music by Bums Lie and Sun Dried Vibes, followed by a midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show on three screens (a seated area, a bar/party area and an outside/smoking area) along with live actors. Doors open at 9pm. Tickets for the concert and movie are just $10 and prop bags will be available for $5. Again, you’re encouraged to wear a costume.
