Free Halloween and fall festivals for kids

Fall is the best time for festivals in Charlotte. Costumed kids, pumpkins, treats…what could be better? Most of the following festivals are free. The exception are the Kidgits events at some malls, where you have to purchase a Kidgit membership. This costs $5 for the year and then all the events are free. This list includes Halloween, fall festivals, sponsored Trick-or-Treat events and Day of the Dead celebrations. Make sure to click through each link to get further details on the events.

Intended for kids up to 5 years old

Blakeney Boo Bash
Saturday, October 20th, 10am to 5pm
Blakeney Shopping Center, at Rea Road and Ardrey Kell Road
Fall activities, crafts like wax hands, painted pumpkins and sand art, and music from a DJ. Come dressed in your Halloween costume if you’d like. There will be a huge slide, a moonbounce and a horse-drawn hayride.

Fall Festival at Providence United Methodist Church
Sunday, October 21st, 3pm to 6pm

Come and wear your Halloween costumes and get treats from the PUMC youths’ car trunks. There will be exciting activities for all, including inflatable bounce houses and slides, carnival games, face painting, tattoos, a fire truck, the “FUN BUS”, decorating pumpkin station and much more.

Spooktacular at Morrison
Thursday, October 25th, 4pm to 8pm
Morrison at Southpark, at the intersection of Sharon and Colony Roads
Free dinner for kids at Earth Fare (6 kids per adult meal purchase), pumpkin decorating, trick-or-treating, free train rides, face painting, balloon artist and a pet costume contest.

Halloween ComicFest at Spandex City Comics

Be a part of a (hopefully) record setting group photo with the Imperial 501st Stormtrooper Legion and an 8-foot tall Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. Also experience an appearance by the Carolina Garrison of the Imperial 501st Legion Stormtroopers and photo opportunities with various costumed heroes. Get a free comic book (one per customer while supplies last), free door prize drawings, free Halloween snacks and a geek trivia contest.

Day of the Dead Celebration at Levine Museum of the New South

Admission to the celebration and the museum is free all day. Enjoy activities, alters, food, story-telling and more.

Southpark Monster Mash
Wednesday, October 31st, 6pm to 8pm
Free pumpkin to decorate, crafts, music, prizes and goody bags. Radio Disney will be there with interactive entertainment and games.
