Update: The randomly selected winner is Cathy, who said the scariest thing about Charlotte is “Trying to drive anywhere during race weeks!!!” As for the rest of you, I’m almost sorry I asked about the scariest thing because now I’m afraid to walk out the door!

See Charlotte a little differently after going on a Haunted Carriage Ride. On the ride you’ll learn about the darker side of Charlotte – grave-robbers, haunted homes, public executions and more. Tickets are $19. Kids age 4-10 are $12 and younger kids on laps are free.
Copperline Tours is offering a lucky Charlotte on the Cheap reader two free tickets. There are a few blackout dates for the free tickets – October 26th, 27th and 31st. You can use the free tickets any other night the tour is operating, as long as the tours aren’t sold out. (So book early.)
To enter this contest, just leave a comment saying what you think the scariest thing is in Charlotte. I’ll start out by saying that nothing scares me more than trying to find my car in the parking decks at Southpark Mall.
The winner will be chosen randomly on Friday, October 5th, 2012, and will be contacted by email. So make sure that you’re checking your inbox and spam folder.

The scariest thing in Charlotte besides the Carolina Panthers defense has got to be walking through the Hurst Tower in Uptown at 1 am all alone. I swear you can hear other footsteps but noone is there. Just sayin
New to Charlotte, so my scary moments are when the names of the roads change and I’m trying to figure out where I am going…
Agree with both of the preceeding posts — the Panthers curse and getting lost in Charlotte are some of the scariest things ’round these parts!
Charlotte taxes
Scariest thing in Charlotte for me is when your family has moved to another city to start fresh and you are by yourself, especially if you are family-oriented =/

The scariest thing in Charlotte is the dwindling number of Native Charlotteans!
I-77 @ 5pm
The Hipster invasion of plaza midwood. They walk around with their PBR, their ironic tee shirts and funny hats. They seem to be multiplying faster and faster!
by far my inlaws!
The scariest thing is living uptown; on the weekends when the tourists come into town, they drive the wrong way down one way streets directly at you and then panic because they don’t know where to go and speed up lol!
The scariest thing is how quickly and frequently street names change and you have no idea what direction you are going because everything twists and turns!
Scariest thing in Charlotte? My mirror at 4:30 each morning. What is that creature?
After living in Uptown Charlotte now for 2 years I think the scariest thing is how quiet it is on Sundays! I wish we had more “walk-to” places for a lovely Sunday stroll.
Trying to drive anywhere during race weeks!!!
what’s scary about Charlotte? The incomplete 485… inner outer loop … bottleneck in the south… street names confusion…. You have to have a GPS to get anywhere around here.
The scariest thing in Charlotte is the drivers!
Scariest thing is any South Blvd intersection when too many people try to go run a yellow (sorry “Carolina Green”) light to make a turn toward Old Pineville, but the lights there are still red, and now there are a bunch of cars piled up in the intersection, and the regular traffic can’t get through. The tempers!
Traffic on 85 in the afternoon is pretty scary!
The scariest thing in Charlotte is never having enough money for fun things like this. That is why I need to win free tickets.
The scariest thing about Charlotte…the traffic! YIKES! Soooo spooooky!
The scariest thing about Charlotte is that so many of our historical sites and buildings were torn down and destroyed, before preservation began. I’m glad that there is still enough left to do tours like these.

The scariest thing in Charlotte is South Park Mall 3 days before Xmas!!
Scarriest thing in Charlotte is the guy on the Morris Jenkins commercials…what’s up with his eyes?
Is trying to park at the Festival in the Park at Freedom Park. Every year, my husband and I unwillingly play chicken down the narrow roads near Freedom Park as other irritated drivers back up, and residents try to back out of their own driveways. We finally ended up parking in a “safe” spot only to have the owner tell us they had been towing people all day. Trust me, it was a quick dash around the festival.
Nothing scares me more than trying to get past Concord Mills Mall on I-85 at rush hour!
Scariest thing in Charlotte is the traffic on I-85 and I-77 N at 5 o’clock!
The scariest thing in Charlotte is all this rainy weather because no one seems to know how to drive in it.

Driving on Highway 74 around 8 am or 5 pm. Terrifying!
The scariest thing in Charlotte is the intersection of Queens Road and Queens Road.
It’s impossible to get out of there!
The scariest thing about Charlotte is the neighborhoods. You can walk from “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” to “Night of the Living Dead” in a matter of two blocks.
Driving when it rains. Scary!!
I think the scariest thing I’ve experienced in Charlotte is walking through (and being completely lost) the Hearst Tower at 2:30am by yourself trying to find your car. That parking deck is always eerily quiet no matter how many people are walking and talking through it or how many cars are driving through….. Oh, and the BAR Charlotte crowd- terrifying.
The scariest thing in Charlotte is the staff running the Bobcats Arena part-time staff
The scariest thing is trying to remember how many names one road has here in this town

The scariest thing in Charlotte is that people still complain there isn’t anything to do, when in reality, there is always something to do… especially when there are lists of free and cheap things sent out each week. Thank you Charlotte on the Cheap!
