I don’t usually give people unsolicited advice but I’m going to right now. You should see Langhorne Slim perform at The Visulite Theatre on October 16th, 2012. He’s played the Visulite a few times in the last couple of years and the venue is perfect for his high energy acoustic style. He’s captivating on stage, partly because it’s clear he’s putting every bit of his energy and heart into each song, and partly because of how he connects with the audience – often literally, moving through the crowd, singing directly to fans. The Visulite is small enough that the performances can feel personal, but never more so than when Langhorne Slim is there. That picture you see? I took it last time, when he was about six inches from me. His music is sometimes classified as roots music, or Americana, but those descriptions don’t really get across the abundant soulfulness that fills his tunes and shows, and it’s that soulfulness that listeners go nuts for.
Tickets are just $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
When he comes to town I try to arrange a ticket giveaway, and this time is no exception. One winner will receive two tickets and a CD. I’ll get to the details of the contest in a minute, but first check out a video. Last time Langhorne was in town was March, and his new CD, The Way We Move, hadn’t yet been released. This is the title track.
