Smithsonian’s annual Museum Day Live! is Saturday, September 29th, 2012. On this day, many museums around the country offer free admission. In the Charlotte area, participating museums are Levine Museum of the New South, Carolina Raptor Center (at Latta Plantation Park in Huntersville), Fort Dobs Historic Site in Statesville and President James K. Polk Historic Site in Pineville. There are many more North Carolina museums participating as well, so it might be a good day to road trip to another NC city.

In order to visit for free, fill out the form for a ticket. Some important things to note:

1. The free admission is “not valid for special exhibits, parking, IMAX film screenings or for use with any other offers.”
2. The free ticket is for two people per household, per address. Additional people have to pay admission.
3. If museum reaches capacity, museum has right to limit guests until space becomes available.
