Do you have an ice cream recipe that’s competition-ready? Or do you just like to eat ice cream? Either way, go to the South End Churn-off on Saturday, August 4th. It’s free to enter (but make sure to read all the rules and deadlines, etc. at the above link) and prizes of up to $150 will be awarded. Ice, rock salt, table, bowls, and spoons are all supplied. You must use real dairy ingredients and no eggs, and you must register by August 1st. Read the rules.
Perhaps more importantly, it’s free to be a a taster. The official judging will begin at 12pm, and, following that, the public will be invited to be tasters and to judge the ice cream. There will be a special “kids’ choice” award so make sure to bring your discerning young ice cream tasters with you.
The competition takes place at Atherton Market, 2104 South Boulevard.
