Free Comic Book Day, a national event, takes place on Saturday, May 5th, 2012. Spandex City Comics, at 3611 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, is participating, from 11am to 4pm, not just by offering free comic books to customers, but also with a host of other fun activities, including “carnival games,” Marvel sketch artists, door prizes, trivia questions. Also, 10% of sales from 11am to 4pm will be donated to Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, and Spandex City Comics will match any donations of graphics novels.
Two local artists, Rich Molinelli and Tony Scott, both of whom have done work on the latest Marvel trading card set, will be available for autographs and sketches.
