Free film: My Joy at UNCC Center City Building 3/25/12

Part of the Ulysses Festival, the Russian film “My Joy” is being shown, for free, at the UNCC Center City Building, 320 E. 9th Street, on Sunday, March 25th, at 2pm.

A truck driver takes a wrong turn and finds himself lost in a bleak Russian underworld, struggling to survive amidst increasingly violent reminders of the country’s dark history. The first fiction film by acclaimed documentarian Sergei Loznitsa, My Joy is a mischievous, ultra-nihilistic parable of post-Communist Russia, shot by master cinematographer Oleg Mutu (The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days). Presented in conjunction with the Charlotte Film Society, Charlotte Public Library and UNC Charlotte College of Arts + Architecture.
